Fixed Asset main account to be distributed to Fixed Asset groups

When uploading Fixed asset opening balances I have uploaded an amount of say USD 1000 to main account 12345-Transportation Equipment. I have one fixed asset group say FXGP01-Vehicle which has 6 fixed assets say f001-truck1, f002-truck2, f003-truck3, f004-truck4, f005-truck5 and f006-truck6. Now I want to distribute the amount of 12345-Transportation Equipment to f001-truck1, f002-truck2, f003-truck3, f004-truck4, f005-truck5 and f006-truck6. How it can be done.

    You will need to post and acquisition adjustment entry for 12345-Transportation equipment to reverse the amount of $1,000.

    When you are in the fixed asset journal for the acquisition adjustment, use the offset account types as Fixed Assets and there you can specify F001, F002, F003 and so on.

    The acqusition adjustment that Syed mentioned below is the way to go.

    This is, however, a quite lengthy and manual process.

    Can't you prepare the data that you upload already in a way that this distribution is already taken into consideration?

    Thanks Fasih,

    In Lines of Acquisition Adjustment journal, I am expecting 12345-Transportation equipment main account in Account column to be available in the drop down list so that i select it and then enter value in credit column and select fixed asset as offset account and select f001, f002, f003 and so on.

    But 12345-Transportation equipment main account is not appearing in the list, rather it is displaying f001,f002,f003 in the drop down list.

    Is there any setup to be done?

    Hi SadiqQ,

    The account in a fixed asset journal is fixed to the acount type 'fixed assets'. You can thus only select fixed assets in the account side and a ledger account as an offset account. This should not be a major issue for your upload or posting process as you merely need to switch / flip the accounting sides and amounts.
