Cashier logging through swipe cards

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

We have a requirement to provide swipe cards for cashier. Has anyone tried using swipe cards for RMS.

The command should be like" username" TAB key "password" ENTER Key. How can it be encoded in magnetic stripe in PVC card.

Yes you need to code it, using the SDK provided.

I was wondering is there any way for me to add TAB or Enter key using MSR605 card Wirter?

I tried everything but seems like I have to add a coding to it.

Just as mentioned above, let the card creator do that. Although I don't recommend encoding the password in the card.

    Thanks,

You could also use the the Enter key instead of the tab key.

    Hi Tahsin,

Can you let us know, how you encode the Tab key in to the mag stripe. We tried all different ways and even card printer vendor cannot come up with a solution. Basically when cashier swipe the card it should automatically fill up the RMS username and password.

When you encode a tab key in to magstripe, it changes track 1 to track 2. But our RMS does not read track 2.

How can we encode user name and password in track 1 with tab key in between ?

it is pretty easy if you can find credit card reader, we have provided a solution like that last year to one of our customer and worked like a charm.

Just tell the card creator just that.  They plug it into the software and out comes a card.
