Ctree to SQL2005 Upgrade

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

Is there a migration tool for Ctree to SQL2005?

Is there a migration tool from GP 4.5 to GP 10 or will an upgrade have to be done for each version?

Thanks.

    Hi Lea

While I believe it would be technically possible to take the upgrade path, the number of stages you will have to go through to get up to the current version is really more than you want to do.

I agree with James, you would be better off re-implementing and importing the data you need via Integration Manager.

    Good luck

    Hi,

Thanks for the advice James. Yes, I was considering just installing SQL2005 and GP10 and importing open transactions from GP4.5. I think this would be the less tedious and more cost effective method.

    Thanks again,

    Lea

     Hi Lea,

I'm not sure you will be able to accomplish this upgrade, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, there was a CTREE to SQL conversion utility but I doubt very much if this is still available and supported, secondly the upgrade path from 4.5 would require versions of GP that are no longer available.

Have you considered any alternatives? One route I might consider would be to install GP 10, extract any data you need from v4.5 and import it into v10. There would be a number of ways of doing that.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    James
