Does anyone know of a way to get CRM online to export static spreadsheet in true excel and not xml?   Our users are confused by the warning messages and by the default save as format (i.e. web page).

Basically, CRM handles the security aspect and therefore exports the excel spreadsheet which contains a token/dataset with a connection to your CRM.

However, this should assist with the confusion for your users

    DDjroller,

If you export the static spreadsheet it will be exported as .xls

Other exporting will be downloaded as .XML file.

The XML file you can open using Excel as well.

    Hope this helps.

    THanks.

At this stage unfortunately there is no option to download as xlsx.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!   Interestingly, I get the same error message when I select the static export option.   While it does indeed create  a file with an xls extension, Excel reads it as and xml.  And I still get the error.   Also, my screen looks a little different from your in that I see two static export options--one for export of "this page" and one for "all pages".  I've tried it both ways and it creates xml regardless.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!  What's confusing here is why export of a "static" sheet would contain an embedded connection to my CRM.

    Djroller,

If you tick the 're-import' feature it will give the format in XML, but I think no embedded connection for the static one.

    Hi Djroller,

If you get two options one for "this page" and one for "all pages" its simply means that you views contains more records then the record per page limit you have set up (50 records per page by default, could be up to 250. Set this up in your personal options)

AS for the fact that it still export in .XML it is probably that you have  the "For reimport" box checked. Try with this box un checked and your export should output in .xls regardless of the " page" option you selected.

You can use Skyvia Data Integration for export to CSV data from Dynamics 365. it is a no-code freemium platform.
