Is there a way to add customer categories? for example, we would like to know which sector between our customers is purchasing more. Our sectors include categories of DIY, Contractors, Designers.

I am not sure of a way to do this directly. Since we do not have sales reps with commissions, our workaround was to create the customer categories as sales reps and assign them to individual customers. We use that field then to segment the purchasing. It does mean we our unable to use the sales rep field as originally designed.

There is a field called Account Type where you can specify different types of customers. The Account Types need to be set up under Store Operations.

    Hi Dan.

I beleive there are two ways to do this, if you want to use the standard out-of.box functionalities of RMS. None of the two options are complete solutions, they are just workarounds.

First would be what JENEE suggested, you create different Account Types and assign them to the customers. This way, when doing reports, you can filter the customer moviments (sales, orders, returns, etc...) per Account Type. I'm not sure if the standard reports include this by default, but it's nto something that is complicated to do... If you have issues, contact me.... OK, now, the second option would be using some of the CustomCaption fields per each Customer, to define the Customer Type. I know it's only a label, but could be useful...In the reports you have this fields included.

    Hope this helps...

    Regards, A.

Thanks for the answers. Account Types will be our try. We wanted a "simpler" way for the cashier to define the customers as a category with for example a checkbox. But, if Account Types is what there is, it is what we are going to try. Appreciate it. Thanks again
