Management Reporter Current System Date Report Header

Posted on by

When the Current System Date is listed on a report header, that date is updated to the current system date each time the report is opened. I would like a date to print on the header of the report that is the date the report was generated. I do not want this date to change each time the report is opened. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this?

Did you ever get an answer to this question?  I'd like to know how to do this as well.

Actually, @PrintDateShort (and @PrintTimeShort) changes each time you print a report. So, if you generate a report to Report Viewer on 1/1/2014 and print it on 1/1/2014, the date will show '1/1/2014'. But, if you print that same report from Report Viewer (i.e., you don't regenerate it) on 1/5/2014, the date will show on the printed report as '1/5/2014'.

I need a field that stays constant with the actual generation date too (which seems much more useful than the date it was printed), but I can't find it.

Ah ok, sorry I misunderstood before. Try @PrintDateShort  in the header. That will give you your current system date so you can track when the dates you generated reports.

That doesn't really give me what I want. The report is one that is generated several times a month. So I want to have the date that the report was generated list in the header but I don't want that date to update. For example, I generate a report for 8/31/2013 but I generate the report today (8/20/2013). I want the date 8/20/2013 to show in the header so that I know what date the report was generated. That way when I generate this report again in 5 days, I see 8/25/2013 so that I can understand why the numbers are different between the two reports.

Try using @DateLong in the header. This should pull the date relate to the date the report is being pulled. Right click in the header section and it'll give you a list of formats you can choose from.
