GP Web Client Print Message

Posted on by 225

Hello,

Is it possible to suppress the message we receive whenever we print from within the web client, "Do you trust this application to write to your printer?"  If so, how do we do it?

Thank you.

You haven't missed anything. I believe this issue is in Microsoft's court since they are the ones who officially need to issue those certs, although they are not technically speaking a third party certificate issuer -- by the way, this may explain why no one is being able to get the certs to register, because they are expired to begin with.

Mariano, that is what I note when I look on my workstation after I run the MSI on my machine - I have in Trusted Publishers 4 different Certs that are all expired - what am I doing wrong here.

Maybe I missed something - should I not get a good certificate from the installed version on the server?  Or is that aged as well.

The TrustedApp is installed if you DO NOT see a globe at the bottom of your screen. Also, all users must have the domain certificates on their machine as well.

Mariano, thanks for the direction to that article - it was very helpful to understand all the things I have tried were / are correct.

    Still have the problem.

Maybe I need to provide a bit more information.

Web Client is hosted on a machine that is not part of my domain or of the end user clients domain.  We use https://(domainpath)/gp to get to the application - it runs / all things GP work and world is wonderful.

But we get the 'Do you Trust this application to . . . . ' print / save / export - you know all of this - and that is where I started.

First was to run the Trust.MSI from the Web Client running on my computer - not part of anyone elses domain - and the installer runs with no error message.

That did not seem to resolve anything, so I dug a bit deeper and arrived at your suggestion and made sure that my IE 11 had the elevated application security - reviewed the regedit - and I have a '1' in the field.

    Still no joy.

Then I noticed something.  At the end of the Blog posted above, it mentioned that the Trusted Icon should not be there is all is installed correctly.  Well low and behold, my Icon is still there and I can click on it and redo the install.

IS this my problem?  Is there something I am missing in the MSI installation?

I am the Admin / Owner of my workstation and have all the rights I need, I think to do what is asked, but then again . . . . do I.

    Thanks again for your assistance.

PS - Chris you never leave the GP Family - don't you know, GP forever - welcome back.

The only thing I've noticed is, those Silverlight certificates are either expired or coming due soon.

Hey guys... this is kind of a blast from the past for me as I've been off the GP team for nearly 2 years.  I'll try to get someone to comment on this with updated information.  =)

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Chris,

You are correct that this is a Silverlight trust issue. However, this is what the Silverlight trust certificates are supposed to take care of, by allowing Silverlight to have access to the local resources (hard drive and printers).

I think the issue these folks are experiencing is closely related to what Aaron Donat described in this old post on Developing for Dynamics GP. Some registry settings need to change to allow elevated trusted applications in the browser.

Chris / Microsoft - has this matter been addressed?  It seems that this something that should be 'switchable' - not a programmer but come on - it is Microsoft and Microsoft - hope it is figured out.

If you are printing the default GP reports from Web Client there is no way to suppress this warning.  This is an IE\Silverlight security issue that we cannot work around when printing the default GP reports directly to the printer.  We recommend that you switch over to the Word Forms for your reports as this will not prompt you with the same warning as long as you’ve installed the TrustedApp msi.
