Microsoft Dynamics RMS involving Kit Items To Be in Negative Value

Posted on by 885

Hi guys,

I would like to raise this concern in RMS of one of our partners. We have a partner that had inquiry about negative kits in RMS, how is it possible to happen?

I would just want to brief you on the scenario:

They provided their customers with recipes and they have created Kits so that their Raw Material is also subtracted and would tally at the end of the day, this worked for them. By the way, this is a Bakery business. However when it comes to selling part, they are required to enter the production first (build the kit) before they could sell. In their case, this is not possible as their production is done at 3.00am and they open at 5.00am. The Manager or the supervisor who is responsible to create the kits comes in at 10:00am. They have requested if they could go ahead with the selling and the production could be updated at any point during the day. For this to happen, the Kits inventory on hand needs to go negative at the time of selling which is not happening at the moment.

Can you please assist on the above or provide us with an alternate solution?

Any response on this is highly important.

Thank you.

Regards,

    Hello Gene,

As previously stated as far as the components of the kit there is not a way to prevent the kit items from showing on the POS screen; but KB article 861177covers  How to Prevent All Kit Items From Printing on a Receipt

    mbs2.microsoft.com/.../kbdisplay.aspx

If this is something you would like to see changed please enter this as a Product Suggestion:

The only other option would be to see if there are any 3rd party products that would handle this; and you may want to check //pinpoint.microsoft.com

    Hopefully this helps.

    Thanks Todd.

At present, the listing of items making up the kit set on screen display and receipt is the hurdle as this does not meet the client's requirement. As a workaround to meet the client's requirement, they are using the kitset feature to set up recipe for the production of bread loaf so that stock of ingredients (flour, oil, yeast etc) is deducted as bread is sold. If we resolve this issue of kitset and can capture quantity produced, then RMS can potentially be sold to fast foods takeaway businesses.

Please let us know if this is possible asap.

    Thank you.

    Hello Gene,

Thank you for posting your kit questions.

If you do not have the 'Do not allow sale of items when out of stock' option enabled (Manager | File | Configuration | Options | Item Options) you should be able to continue to sell items even if you are out of stock.

However, the kit item will not go negative. Only the component items will go negative.

Thanks for the response. If the client wants the system to allow the kit to go into negative, is this possible? Also, when they sell a Kit, the components are displayed on the screen and are also printed on the receipt. How do we stop this??

Please note the components for that client are Recipes and this should not be available to Cashiers nor their Customers.

Is their any other walk around which we could use instead of Kits??

Any feedback on this is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

The RMS Guide says, "You can leave a kit item’s quantity at zero and Store Operations will automatically build the kits when they’re sold." So, the raw materials should be being decremented properly and the sales of the baked goods are being recorded. I would just have the manager build kits for whatever baked goods haven't been sold yet when he or she comes in at 10.
