
We experienced an issue with the Project Close Period (PA.CL0.00) for Year End. After starting the process, SL would run for around 4 hours then the following message would appear: "PA - Year End Close has stopped working". The Windows Event Log had the following info: Event Id=1001 Event Type=CLR20r3 and P9=System.OutOfMemoryException.
Here is our resolution… We unchecked the Bring Beginning Balances Forward on around 25,812 projects then reran the process successfully. We originally had 62,829 projects that the process was trying to process and unchecking the checkbox took the count to 38,640 instead. The SL 32 bit client (CLR\.NET windows form) has a memory limitation and we clearly hit it with the number of project/task/account category combinations and project/account category combinations in SL.
