Audit User Access(Outlook client)- Last Login Date

Hi, We're using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 On Premise version. Recently we got a requirement for displaying user Last Login date. We're mostly user CRM Outlook plugin. I noticed that there are two CRM access entries logged  in Audit Summary just by opening Outlook(2010) without navigating to CRM from Outlook. It doesn't make any sense. Any insights? Thanks

One entry is "User accessed via Web" and the other one is "User accessed via Web Services". Please see attached screenshot.

    Hi Erin,

    If the CRM is configured on your outlook then authentication happen on opening outlook itself. There are feature present in outlook like tracking, setting regarding object etc which are integrated with CRM. Hence logging to Outlook which has CRM configured is same as logging to web portal.

    Thanks for your reply. I understand these. What I don't understand is why by simply opening Outlook WITHOUT accessing CRM would show I have accessed CRM?

    Hi Erin,

    CRM can be accessed by user logging in through CRM url/ outlook.

    Also CRM can be accessed through web service via code.

    So user access via Web denotes login to CRM via URL which include outlook.

    User Access via Web Service refer to the user account being used to some custom application accessing CRM via SDK.
