Thanks alot guys let me bang my head for custom workflow. :)
Power of default workflow fails in your scenario
Probably the cleanest solution would be to build a custom workflow assembly to check if the current date is a weekday or weekend. I haven't used this code but somebody posted the following here:

Cant we do with the power of default workflow ?
