How to produce Assembly orders with negative item quantity?

Hi there,

I am the CFO in a worldwide chain restaurant, and we deal with a lot of daily sales of our products with "recipes" given by the our franchiser. However, as we all know, recipes for food industry are quite relative, as for example if the recipe for a burger calls for "50grams of tomato" or "7 grams of Mayo" , in practice it cannot be always the same quantity that is being used in the restaurants. As a result, when I try to post the sales with Assembly order on a daily basis, I always have some items which goes below zero of our recipe consumption, and therefore I cannot post the sales without adjusting the inventory manually.

My question is, is there a feature that NAV can do this automatically, as this process takes a lot of manual work and time, and it is impossible to be in real time data without integrating the sales automatically.

Would appreciate a lot for your feedback!

Kind regards,

Valon

The assembly order does not allowed the inventory to go negative.

You will need to customize it to create a positive adjustment when you post the assembly.

Another way of looking it is by making sure that your stock in the system mirrors your real stock so you will not have this issue.

I think you can enable negative inventory for the item you have the problem with (depending on the NAV version) and let the inventory go negative when posting the sales invoices. This will allow you to post the sales without an issue, then you can do an inventory adjustment for those item at the end of the day to update the actual inventory in hand.  Even if there aren't negative inventory, adjusting the inventory balance to the physical balance would be preferable based on your scenario.

You can use the physical inventory journals to do the inventory adjustment at the end of the day.

You can't go negative when you are using Assembly Order. It is blocked by NAV. The Prevent Negative Inventory does not effect Assembly Order. It is probably because of costing logic.

In that case, let the assembly item go negative, without posting the assembly order with SO. Then you can post one assembly order for the usage of that particular day and do the adjustment for components as required.

Deepening on who much manual work is acceptable for you.
