Consolidated Financial Statements Using Management Reporter

Posted on by 727

I have 2 separate SQL Server Instances of Dynamics GP2013, but need to provide consolidated financial statements. I have been working with Management Reporter and have created the 2 ERP integrations, but it will only ever allow me to add one of those companies in the Company setup.  Can anyone advise if it is possible to use Management Reporter in this manner?

Josh, thanks for the clarification. Personally I do not use MR very often. I already spend way too much time rebuilding the datamart when there is only one of them. I can only imagine what would happen if there were multiple instances. It is good to know you can do this. I will keep this for future reference.

    Hello Richard,

Thank you for the reply. While I can understand how that note could be interpreted that way, what you have described is unfortunately incorrect. What the note is trying to say is that you can only create one integration each time you run the process to add a new integration...so you cannot add two GP data marts by going through the File | Configure process just one time. You have to go to File | Configure two times to add in two data marts for two DYNAMICS databases, three times to add in three, etc. As long as what I stated earlier is true (where each DYNAMICS database has unique company IDs included in it), you can add as many data marts as your system has resources to handle for any number of DYNAMICS databases, or even connections to other Dynamics ERP systems like AX or SL. The same rules apply for the GP Legacy provider...you can only add one Legacy provider each time you run through File | Configure, but you can add more than one by running through the process more than once. Hope that helps clarify things! :)

    Thanks!

On page 9 this is a big note:

Management Reporter 2012 can integrate with multiple ERP systems, but you can configure only one instance of a legacy data provider or data mart at a time. So you can set up MR 2012 across multiple instances but only one at a time can be active.

    Hello Jason,

Thank you for your reply, but that information is not completely accurate. MR 2012 is designed to be able to integrate data from multiple DYNAMICS databases across multiple SQL instances. The only requirement is that the company IDs from each DYNAMICS instance are unique as I mentioned earlier. You can even add multiple ERP integrations for different ERPs such as Dynamics AX, Dynamics GP, or Dynamics SL, all into a single MR installation for easy consolidated reporting. The account structure does not need to be the same for the companies, but it can make report design easier without the need to create different Link to Financial Dimension columns in the row for consolidated reports. I have included the link below to the MR 2012 documentation in case there are any questions on creating the integrations:

To be able to consolidate multiple companies you would need to have the company databases originating from the same DYNAMICS database. The connection to the SQL server and DYNAMICS database is what controls which companies can be added. I don't believe that you can successfully consolidate from multiple instances SQL. There or some other aspects as well that need to be considered. One being the account structure of your two companies.

    Hi Liz,

You can add multiple ERP integrations into MR 2012; however, please note that each Dynamics GP company must have a unique company ID. For example, you cannot add the "TWO" demo company twice into one MR 2012 database, even if the companies are in separate DYNAMICS databases. Each company ID would need to be unique such as "TWO1" and "TWO2".

    Thanks!
