RDS 2012 R2 + GP 2015 + Logging off disconnected sessions = still active in GP and not logged out cleanly

Hi,

In our environment if a user disconnects from our RDS servers it logs of the session after a period of time.

when the RDS logs of the session it doesn't do this cleanly as the users sessions is still active within GP.

can anyone shed any light on this. is there any papers on best practices when setting up GP with a RDS solution.

Thanks,

Darren

Would you all regard this as a user issue or a system issue because we have the same problem.

When we have a check links to run a check is done for any jobs which may have ended badly.

Hi, sorry for not making myself clear, In server 2012 R2 session collection you have collections then your collection name then editing the settings for this you have "end a disconnected session" this essentially logs out the user after a period of time. if this happens the session is not cleanly logged out of GP.  I have tested this myself.

We have the exact same problem.  We run a script at 2am that removes all users from the activity table to solve it.

    Hi Darren,

We have the same RDS Server 2012 environment and there is no setting for the Server to disconnect the session after any period of inactivity. From what I have seen, is that users don't log off their sessions properly, and yes it can problems in GP.

This article explains the difference between disconnecting and logging off.

    Hope this helps.
