Delete unused gift card - how to do this?

Hi,

Our customer has a policy to create all gift cards in FO with zero balance. Now they have changed the numbering of goft cards and want to delete all those gift cards that have zero balance and wrong gift card number.

We have tried several ways but with no luck. When selecting a gift card and ressing Delete, FO informs: "After being issued, gift card with transactions cannot be deleted." There are no transactions yet.

Deleting with excel doesn't work.

Is there a way to delete these extra gift cards?

Hi Kati,

you cannot delete gift cards which were used already. But you can Lock them (parameter Locked).

How about gift cards that were issued with ero balance and are not used?

Gift card once issued cannot be deleted irrespective of the value or the redemption status. The only option will be set it to locked as Ramune highlighted above.

You will have to write a batch job to add transaction to gift card transactions table to manually zero it out. You wont be able to delete the giftcard if that's been transacted.

There is also a accounting aspect to it. so keep in mind to also Provide some reporting around transactions you will add to zero out gift cards.

I've been in similar spots before. It's weird how sometimes, even when we're sure there are no transactions, the system insists otherwise. Have you tried reaching out to the software's support? Sometimes they've got some tech magic up their sleeves. And if you want to get a customized voucher, you can use gift card management software. I hope that helps!

No. The only thing you can do is use the 'Void' button to void the card
