No Invoices created for Invoice Proposal

I have gone back to the basics to test this.

  • I create a project
  • Create a sales order from the project
  • Sales order is for $2500, project category is Install; item is a service line item
  • Confirm, Pick, Pack the sales order line; shows as Delivered as it should
  • Create invoice proposal - include sales orders, leave dates blank
  • Result - No invoices were created;
    • A few times the invoice is created, but for 0 amount

Any ideas?

    Hi Howard,

Can you tell what line property is used (with the detailed settings)? Is this line property set to be chargeable?

Yes, they are chargeable. I've made the category chargeable, as well as the Project Group, which is set to post by category. (should it be project?) Which actually brings up another question. The sales order is for a service line item, and I have to choose a project category, and I have to have a category which in essence relates to an item, not a service, as I cannot set up a category for an item. That doesn't seem right with me, and I'm wondering if that had anything to do with. I'm working with a company that performs these services and the bill for installation of equipment, and they want to use a sales order to bill the customer, but still under a Project bucket.

    Hello Howard,

I run into this issue often; many times simply because of the end date that this specified in the invoice proposal form.

Can you check that this date is either cleared or covers the posting date for your sales order?

Another thing that you can look out for is the 'update item quantity' field in the invoice proposal form and whether it is set to the correct value.

    About the sales categories:

You can link your sales categories to the project module categories. Simply open the sales category hierarchy, select the sales category and assign a project category in the respective tab. This should ensure that the linkage is ok and that the postings can be created.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
