I'm setting up test managers for use with timecard entry.

Logged in as test manager,

Manager >Team Timcard Entry > Team Timecard Entry > Select employee name

I click on the manager's assigned employee and the timecards tab has an error....

    ITGP,

When you go to Site Actions > Site Settings > Users (Under Business Portal Administration) and choose your user, you can see the data permissions that they are assigned.  Do you see Employee-Restricted Manager?

Do you have more than one company?  It's possible that the data permission is assigned for one company but not the other.

    Thanks

No, I do not see Employee-Restricted Manager.  The manager is assigned only to the test company.  It does the same to the live company.

It appears that you need to assign your user to the Manager role.  If you're not familiar with it, there are two levels of security:  page level security and data level security.  You assign page level through SharePoint groups.  You assign data level through Site Actions > Site Settings > Users.

    Thanks

I'm leaning in that direction as well.  I listed the permission in my orginal post, which permission am I missing?

You're missing the Employee-Restricted Manager data permission, which you get when you assign your user to the Manager role.

The documentation does not list he Employee-Restricted Manager as a data permission.  There are 2 permission with Restricted Manager; EmployeeTimecardTemplate - Restricted Manager and Timecard - Restricted Manager.  Which are both listed.

What version of BP are you using?

I did a quick check of my BP environment and found the Employee-Restricted Manager data permission assigned to the Manager role.  Can you check yours for the same?  (Site Actions > Site Settings > Roles:  Data Permissions tab on web part)

    Rob,

Thank you that was it.  After I added the permission to the manager role it fixed it.
