Trying to set up a basic warehouse , so within my warehouse there will be an area for items that need to be processed in production, another area for items ready to be shipped to customers. I have been recomended to just tick requiere recieve and requiere shipment in the location card. Now, should I tick actually bin mandatory? what does this bin mandatory exactly mean? how does affect the whole warehouse managaement ?

    Hi,

Bin mandatory is necessary. Actually NAV has Locations, Zones, Bins. Bin means you are holding the stock Bin wise. There is no field for BIN in item ledger entry so when the user post the item transaction with warehouse receipt or shipment the same get stored in warehouse entry table. So your inventory is stored Bin wise so that if you do not hold enough stock in Bin you will not be able to sell it or consume it.

Bins represent the basic warehouse structure and are used to make suggestions about the placement of items. When you have created your bins, you can define very specifically the contents that you want to place in each bin, or the bin can function as a floating bin without specified contents.
