Changing business units

1) I have to change parent business unit of a business unit. If I change that, Should I need to reassign or change anything?

2) If I change a user's business unit, I need to reassign his security roles. I am aware of that. Once I change Business unit, Manager field in his record is becoming blank. Is there a way I won't loose this?

3) If I have to change business units for 10 users and I need to make same changes in upper environments. Should I do it manually in all environments or is there any easy process?

    Hi,

    1) No. Everything should work as is with the new changes

    2) Manager should belong to the same business unit or parent business unit. If the manager is of different business unit then it will be removed otherwise it will be available as is.

    3) I don't think there is any tool which will allow you to modify BU on multiple record. This could be becuase changing BU is a time consuming task which can go upto hours for a single user depending upon the records. However you can still check Xrm toolbox for any tools.

    Hope this helps.

    1. I remember you have to reassign security roles as they will be wiped out for those child BU users after reparenting BU

    2. Manager from different BU is impossible so System will clear it

    3. You have to do some package with SSIS + Kingswaysoft or scribe to do in bulk. We cannot bulk edit in CRM UI

    1)   One BU  have only single parent BU  so changing BU , it will remove the assigned user security roles under this BU.

    2) This is by design when you changed BU it's removing all the reference of old BU from user, and system don't know which role will be assign to the User of current BU. You cant stop this behaviour.

3)I believe user related changes you should do directly and manually  in the environment . This changes could be differ environment to environment. So do it manually.
