We have a journal entry that shows up on a smart list but did not get posted completely. This was due to a power failure. When trying to inquire the journal entry, the message is "The journal entry number you've entered doesn't exist or hasn't been posted. Enter or select a valid journal entry number."
How can this journal entry be killed?
Thanks.

Thank you. I did end up changing that flag.
That was what I needed. Thanks. Teresa
If you look in the GL10000 table for the header and the GL10001 for the accounts, do you find your entry there? If it was entered in a batch, the batch ID should be in the SY00500 table. Posted GL entries post to the GL20000 table, I'd check that table too for the journal entry number.
If you find the batch ID in the SY00500 table, check the value in the fields MKDTOPST and BCHSTTUS. Make note of what the values are and then set each of them to zero (0). After those fields are set to zero, see if you can pull it up in the GL transaction entry screen. If you can, you should be able to delete it if it originated in the GL. You could also void it if you didn't want to delete it.
If it still will not come up in the GL transaction entry window you can, as Deanne suggested, change the value of the VOID field in the GL10000 table to 1. In addition, you should delete any rows related to that journal entry from the GL10001 table.
If you are using MDA or Analytical Accounting or if this was an intercompany or multicurrency transaction you may have some additional cleanup to do. If this transaction came up from a subledger you might also have more work to do.
Kind regards,
Leslie
