Hi there

I have run the code upgrade tool on LCS and connected my on-premise environment to VSTS, only to discover that the custom fields I had previously added in AX 2012 have been applied in D365 with overlaying? My question in relation to this is, should I create a table extension and move my custom fields there, or is it acceptable to leave the custom fields where the upgrade tool put them?

Hi Sarah Farr,

Upgrade tool is just a tool, MS improving it but it's far from ideal. You should use extensions only because overlaying is not possible in upcoming release and you won't be able to upgrade to it.
