Help needed with RMS aging reports

Posted on by 180

Does anyone know a quick and efficient way of identifying slow moving products using RMS? I'm really just looking for a way to quickly identify items that did not sell at all over a variable length of time.

Any  help you can render would be greatly appreciated.

    John,

Run the detailed sales report and when you set the Filter select "Last sold" from the column on the left. Then in the Range (right side) select the date range.

Not that the date range will show you all the items that were last sold during that time. so if you want to see all the items that have not sold in the last 6 months, set the date range from the day you opened to 6 months ago.

Any items sold in the last 6 months will not be in the results because their "Last Sold" date will be greater than 6 months ago.

Hope this makes sense it's kind of backwards but it works.

    John,

I like both of the report ideas to see information on slow movers.  However, assuming you want to take action on slow movers, take a look at this RMS Forecast and Ordering Tools.  It will show you the item sales for any date range you choose, set an expected lead times based on order frequency, then calculate history based RMS Reorder and RMS Restock levels for thousands of items at at time, in seconds.  Then if you Apply Changes, all of those calculated Reorder and Restock points will be applied in seconds.  Using RMS Purchase Order based on Reorder point, you can then let RMS determine what you should order.  Incidentally, because of seasonality and holiday affects, you can save Forecast templates for any date range, any season, any holiday, then re-apply the template when that period comes along, so RMS will be ready to stock your store at the right level.  For more information:

     David:

Thanks for the help - works but not 100% the way I want to. If I understand this methodology correctly, items that NEVER sold would also not show up, correct?

If that is so, I could be hanging on to some serious duds without even know it...

I think I found a better way of doing this by running a movement report and setting the filters to 'my date range' AND 'quantity sold=0'.

This also allows me to isolate problem children in specific categories and departments if needed.

What do you think? Got something that works better?
