Deactivation of products

I've been give a task of deactivating a list of products which my organisation has not used for about two years now. I help on how to achieve this. I aware products once released may not be easily deleted but is there a way I can individually deactivate the products or programatically deactivate of whole lots at once. I need helps on how i can efficiently achieve this as I'm not too technical.

To my mind, AX is a bit weak in this area. There is no way to filter out obsolete products from various Item number drop-downs, for example.

Instead, you can use Default Order Settings to put the items on Stop for Sales, Purchase etc.

You can set a 'Manual' Coverage group (if you use Master Scheduling functionality)

And you have the option to specify an 'Alternative item' which is used in the Sales Quote/Order process.

    Hi  Fausat

you can deactivate release product in:

Product Information Management > Release Product > Manage Product > Site Specific Order Setting > Purchase Tab > Check Override > Check Stopped

Product Information Management > Release Product > Manage Product > Site Specific Order Setting > Inventory Tab > Check Override > Check Stopped

Product Information Management > Release Product > Manage Product > Site Specific Order Setting > SalesOrder Tab > Check Override > Check Stopped

Kindly mark check if it answers your question.

    TIA

    Hi Guy,

Thanks for your contribution. Using the default order setting is helpful for stopping the product individually. I have hundreds of products to deactivate and can't write code to do the deactivation so i am looking at if possible to do personalise at released product level to bring up the stopped field in grid display so that i can easily tick stopped for all the products instead of having to open up individual product. Any help or idea in this respect?

    Hi Marielle,

Thanks for your suggested path. Quite useful. I'm looking at better way of doing a whole lot of products at once possibly using the personalise feature to display the stopped field at released product screen grid, any help or idea in that respect. thanks

I can't think of a way to use personalisation to bring the 'Stopped' field(s) on to the Release product for easy editing.

However, if you open the Released product list page in 'Edit in grid' mode, then open the Default order settings form and place them side-by-side, you will notice there is a link between the two forms. Whichever item you select in the product list, the Default order settings form will update to that item. Saves you having to do so many mouse clicks.

    Hi,

Even if the product is deactivated, does it still show on the planned purchase order report? I believe if it is deactivated then it no longer shows the planned purchase order report but it is still showing? How to stop it from showing on the report?
