Delay sending a quick campaign

Hello -
I would like to create a quick campaign using an email template and marketing list, however I don't want to send it right away - I'd like to schedule it to send at a later date/time. How do I do that?

    Hello MB-04032155-0,

You've hit on a common need: scheduling quick campaigns in Dynamics 365 for Sales. Unfortunately, quick campaigns in Dynamics 365 do not offer direct scheduling functionality. They are designed for immediate execution.

However, there are effective workarounds to achieve your goal:

    Workarounds and Solutions:

    1. Use a Regular Campaign (Recommended):

      • Create a Campaign:

        • Navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
        • Create a new campaign.

      • Add Marketing List:

        • Add your marketing list to the campaign.

      • Add Email Activity:

        • Add an email activity to the campaign.
        • Select your email template.

      • Schedule the Email Activity:

        • Set the "Scheduled Start" date and time on the email activity.

      • Distribute the Campaign Activity:

        • Distribute the email activity.

      • Advantages:

        • Provides full scheduling capabilities.
        • Offers more control over campaign execution.
        • This is the best method to use.

      • Disadvantages:

        • Takes a little longer to setup then a quick campaign.

    2. Power Automate Flow (Automation):

      • Trigger:

        • Create a scheduled Power Automate flow (e.g., daily or hourly).

      • Retrieve Records:

        • Use the "List rows" (Dataverse) action to retrieve the contacts or leads from your marketing list.

      • Send Email:

        • Use the "Send an email (V2)" (Outlook 365) or "Perform an unbound action" (Dataverse) action to send the email using your email template.

      • Scheduling Logic:

        • Implement logic in your flow to check the desired send date and time.

      • Advantages:

        • Automates the process.
        • Provides flexibility for complex scheduling scenarios.

      • Disadvantages:

        • Requires Power Automate skills.
        • Can be more complex to set up.

        •

    3. Third-Party Marketing Automation Tools:

      • If you require advanced marketing automation features, consider using a third-party marketing automation tool that integrates with Dynamics 365.
      • These tools often provide robust scheduling and campaign management capabilities.

      • Examples include:

        • ClickDimensions
        • Mailchimp
        • These tools will give you the most flexibility.

        •

    Key Recommendations:

    • Use a Regular Campaign: This is the most straightforward and reliable method for scheduling email campaigns within Dynamics 365.
    • Power Automate for Automation: If you need to automate the process or implement complex scheduling logic, Power Automate is a good option.
    • Third-Party Tools for Advanced Needs: If you require advanced marketing automation features, consider using a third-party tool.
