Is it mandatory to create bin content? or bin content is created by the system automatically when we do item movements?

For a basic location (without directed put-away/pick) with only 'require pick/putaway, bin madatory', is it mandatory to create bin content?

    Bin content is the actual content of the item sitting in the Bin. So when you do Warehouse Item Journal which is actually the opening count of the Item then Bin content will be created automatically. You will do movements then also it will be updated as per the transaction. All adjustments will have an impact on it. Don't create it manually.

    Adding to RockWithNAV reply... Bin Content is a listing of Bins showing all the Items on-hand, by Bin. In other words, the Item Content in the Bins. When the Location has Bin Mandatory, you will post inventory transactions by selecting the Bin Code. This can be in Basic Warehousing or Advanced, as RockWithNAV noted.

    It is not mandatory to create bin content. It will be automatically be created when you post any item movement into that bin. It will automatically deleted when the bin content reaches zero.

    The reason to manually create bin content is when you want to predetermine the bin location of an item. You can create a bin content, set it up as a Fixed bin, you can also setup min and max, etc for your replenishment.
