The Never Ending Upgrade Saga - 9.0 to 2010

Everyone -

I have a question in my never ending saga on upgrading from 9.0 to 2010.  I am FINALLY able to get the databases upgraded, but the latest problem is User logins.  I captured the logins from the old server and upgraded the security during the database upgrade, but the users cannot login using the credentials they used on the old server.

Luckily I'm running this in a test environment, so it is not impacting production.

Thanks.

Jeff

That is why it is always good to follow all the steps in a KB :)

    Jeff,

Thank you, this message is going in my 'feel good file'. Sometimes I screw stuff up beyond belief and I need to look at times when I helped and did it right. That's what I call my 'feel good file'.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Leslie -

Worked like a charm.  I should have known you would chime in with a good answer.

    Thanks!

    Hi all,

I second the password deal. If you change the name of the SQL server, the old passwords will not work. You can blank them out at the SQL and GP will require the user to set one when they log in. They will need to attempt to log in without a password if you're not using SQL rules.

    kind regards,

    Leslie

Have you tried changing the user passwords in GP and then have them attempt to login? Don't change the passwords in SQL and then expect them to be able to login to GP using those passwords.

Correction, the passwords will not works. Here is the link to source:

I remember having this issue in test. Production, however, was fine since we used the same name.

    In my test environment, yes.

As far as I know, if the new SQL server has a different name, the captured logins will not work. Is it the case for you?
