Field with multiple option selection

I need to create a field with different specialties (I am in the medical industry). So there are some doctors that are general surgeons, urology, GI and so forth.

How can I create a field that lets me select multiple options in a field?

Please help!! This is driving me crazy and I can't imagine that there is no way to do this with such a great CRM.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM doesn’t support multi-select option sets out of the box. Refer below blogs to have multi-select option set in CRM, good amount of JS code involved in it to accomplish.

If you are not keen to have “Multi-select” option set. I’ll suggest having a “Two Option” set for each type of specialty, doing so you can just turn it on or off as needed. There will be no coding required for this and easy to maintain and of course surety of support in future upgrades.

    Thanks,

    Hello Vijay,

Thank you for the reply. I was trying to do this but I still can't get it to work. Is there a video that might help me? There are some thing that I need to add, from the first link, that I can't find how to do correctly, for example the onload and onsave as well as the sc_multiselect_js. The "two option" set is to much, I want it to have Specialties and list all 20 types and have the ability for multi-select.

    Hi Yessenia,

You can add "Two option" fields by clicking "New Field" in the form designer and setting the "Type" attribute to "Two Option" (Not sure about the translation, but it should be something similar).

The supported way of solving your issue is to add a Two Option-field for every choice in the multi-select list, and then you may convert these to checkbox-fields once they are added to your form. To convert a Two-Option field to a checkbox field, double-click it in the form and select the "Formatting"-tab. Under "Format Control" (Again, not sure about the translation), select "Checkbox" instead of "Two Options".

Doing this, you can simulate a multi-select question/field in CRM 2013.

    Good Luck!

    Regards,

    Rasmus

I am not sure if there is any video available for this or not. As far as your concern goes, you need to pass attribute schema names to on load and on save functions. Attributes which are to be displayed on form as option set, and attributes which hold actual selected values.

But I will still propose to use “Two Option” sets for your functionality.

    Thanks,

Will these checkboxes list be trackable/searchable?

For example, if i make an account with speciality

    Food (Checked)

    and

    Distribution (checked)

WIll i be able to query all accounts that have a certain option checked?
