AX 2012 Security - Custom Admin Role (Local super user) How do you make a limited admin role?

Hi,

We're working on a big project, where it would be beneficial to make a security role that has all functionality avaliable except AOT and Setup parts of every module.

I know this is kind of "2009 mentality", but it's still a relevant case for 2012.

Did any of you solve this for your projects? The thought is to make a role for a local super user. Someone with most of the functionality avaliable, but not access to code-projects, some setup menu items etc.

I would be very grateful, if anyone could help me out here!

(I do have access to Security Development Tool)

This is a certain way to achieve it. Some standard privileges do have too much entry points, so creating a new is an option.

It might give some additional pains. Some controls are set to manual and should be added to the role (or privilege) as well. E.g. posting an product receipt might require permissions on a certain class.

Update: System administration > Setup > Security > Security privileges

You can create custom privileges that give access to all menu items on "Common", "Inquiries" "Periodic" and "Reports", leaving "Setup" untouched.

Might not be best practise, and it is very time-consuming, but it's possible.

This is the closest i've come to answering my initial question.
