CRM 2015 Import Organization Error: This organization cannot be upgraded

Hello Team,

I am attempting to refresh my CRM 2015 DEV Environment by restoring a backup of our Live CRM 2015 DB. Our Live on CRM 2015 On-Premise environment is currently on version 7.0.2.53 and our DEV CRM 2015 is currently on 7.0.1.0129. We did a full system upgrade in November from 2011 to 2015 without seeing this issue.

When attempting to import the organization of the restored DB in on the DEV CRM 2015 server the following message is displayed:

"This organization cannot be upgraded. You can only upgrade organizations that have a versions of CRM 2013 Service Pack 1."

Is there anything that assist in determining what is actually causing the problem.

Any insight is appreciated thanks in advance.

Hi Robert,

You are trying to import an organization upgraded to CRM 2015 update 0.2 (7.0.2.53) into an environment running 0.1 (7.0.1.129) and most probably that’s why you are getting this error (not sure why the error mentions 2013 though).

In my knowledge you can go from 0.1 to 0.2 but not back to 0.1 from 0.2

Try updating your dev environment to 0.2 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3075889) and then import the live organization db into it.

Hello Piyush,

I have upgraded the DEV environment to CRM Version 7.0.0002.0053.

However the error message remains when attempting to import an organization.

"This organization cannot be upgraded. You can only upgrade organizations that have a version of CRM that is no earlier than Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Service Pack 1."

Hi

Do you happen to have any other organizations in your local environment that happen to still be at a lower version? I've experienced issues in the past where not all organizations were accordingly upgrades to the latest versions prior to attempting to add another newer one.

(You can easily check the version of all organizations from Deployment Manager)

Hi All,

The solution for this is to change on the SQL Database side the following:

dbo.BuildVersion there Edit the first 200 rows...

On the field MinorVersion (that is now 1) change it to 0.

After that you can import the Organization normally...If this is CRM Online you will need to create a Case so the support team can do that to you.

Seems like you have to maintain the same CRM Web Version, otherwise Web Version is older and DB version is newer.

Can you go to help>about for your LIVE and DEV to quick check the Web/DB version number whether they are the same?
