Calculating average cost by warehouse

Hi all,

When we first set up our system and went live in November 2018, we had the following things ticked in our Storage Dimension Groups:

We didn't have financial stock ticked at the Warehouse level, only at the Site level (and we realised too late to rectify it). We have now realised that it is causing us an issue. This is because we are running all of our stock transactions through our main warehouse, but we have a couple of virtual warehouses for transactions with direct customers and intercompany transactions. We buy items at different prices through these virtual warehouses, compared to our main stock warehouse.

We can only calculate and report on our average cost at a Site level, meaning that our average cost is being artificially skewed up because of these virtual warehouses, and this is affecting both our margins and our stock value. After 15 months of transactions, is there any way to amend this? It is causing us an increasing problem, as our margins and stock values continue to be out of kilter with what we would expect them to be. When I look at the On Hand List page, and include the Dimension of warehouse, I can see that the system is calculating a different average cost in our main warehouse compared to at the site level. So the information is there. However that number isn't the one being generated in the stock value reports, or the number which is used to calculate margins

Thanks

if warehouse was not ticked for financial inventory then system is not maintaining cost at that warehouse level

alternate would be to export on hand and cost at site level and then apportion outside based on each warehouse contribution

    Hi SDK1,

Assuming you want to get this corrected in the system, blog below details steps that you need to perform to get this corrected. Try this in TEST environment first.

pls suggest if our response helped

the goal for you should be to clear out inventory and bring it back after changing the dimension group
