Prepayment on sales orders

When my sales order is blocked pending prepayment, is it possible to still pick the order and only prevent shipping? How can this be set up?

    As far as I know its not possible out of the box. For example, in a sales order with a posted prepayment if I try to create a pick, I get the following error:
     
     
    If you try to manually create a pick, it only allows you to pick Released sales orders, which in your case it has the status of pending prepayment instead. 
     
    This is determined by the Check Prepmt. when Posting setting in the Sales & Receivables Setup. If you need this functionality, you can customize the setting to differentiate between creating advanced warehousing documents, shipping, and invoicing; otherwise its not available out of the box.
