Emailing vendor remittances in Dynamics GP causing GP to hang

I have a client who has been sending ACH check remittances to vendors for years without an issue.  They sent some last week but they are having issues this week.  When she chooses to print her remittances and selects to send emails, GP appears to hang for a long period of time.  Eventually she gets a Report Processing Status screen which lists Check Remittance in it with a yellow caution triangle.  At that time, she can go ahead and post her batch but she does not get emails sent.  Or, if she does not check the send emails, she can print remittances and post without an issue.  So, the problem is definitely in the emailing of the remittances.   Their IT manager said that they changed the relay server for their email 2 or 3 weeks ago, but he thinks that since GP goes right to Outlook, he does not think that is the problem.  And, that was changed a week or 2 prior to the issue starting.  We looked at the form for the remittance and it is not a modified report.  Both GP users who send emails have this issue.  They have their GP set to use MAPI for the Server Type under System Preferences.  They are using 32 bit Outlook.  Any ideas why they would suddenly start having an issue?  Thanks!

I would absolutely look at latest Office updates - there was an issue late last year with Word updates that caused crashing in GP.

They checked for Office Updates and they did have one but they were able to send remittances via email on the day after the update.  So, I don't think it is an Office update issue.

Another note:  When they tried sending an email with HTML format, it went through.  The update last week was actually a Windows update rather than an Office update they said.  So, it seems it has to have something to do with the Word templates or Word since HTML is the only format that does not require that Templates be enabled.

Was there a solution for your problem?

I had them try to use HTML as the type rather than PDF and their email generated.  Evidently there was something wrong them their templates but we did not figure out what.
