Any help or advise is appreciated.
Is it safe to be used?
They might probably have tested it :-)
Is it advisable to migrate historical data?
Which system's data do you mean? The Migration Tool uses source adapters to get the "historical data" and out of the box afaik only Epicor iScala source adapter is available. So if you have another system you wish to migrate from then first consider implementing a source adapter for it.

    Hi,

I have Used the Migration Tool and it is Pretty Useful...

Key Benefits to Systems Advisers Group (Partner):

1)Standardised, repeatable migration methodology (use  with other clients)

2)Extensible framework to add specialised rules or expand  scope of data conversion

3)Substantially less code and scripts to write than standard data conversion methods

4)Ability to use the framework with any source system (legacy,  competitor, other Microsoft Dynamicsâ„¢ products) by just adding new source adapters

Out of the box, the Migration Tool for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 delivers source adapters for Epicor iScala. In addition, the migration tool is customizable and can be extended to handle multiple source adapters.

The Migration Tool for Microsoft Dynamics AX is a .NET application with a client/server architecture and uses Microsoft SQL Server® 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) packages.

Sorry, I misunderstood the topic, I'm looking for the data migration tool from 2009 to D365 Operations.

This thread is eight years old; the guys clearly weren't talking about Dynamics 365 in 2009. The migration tool they discussed wouldn't help you - this is as a wrong thread for your question.

There is no specific tool for migration from AX 2009 to Dynamics 365 for Operation, but you can use data management in D365. If you have more questions, please create your own thread.
