Installing Service Packs to FRx

Hello All,

I am attempting to upgrade several of my users to Windows 7 and FRx has quit working for them.  They get an error "FRx is unable to process this output request for the following reason:  C:\Windows\system32\msxml.dll could not be found"

I have done some research online and it appears that I need to upgrade their version of FRx to the latest Service Pack (at least 11).  However, when trying to install the Service Pack, the version never changes even though the install appears to be succesful.  We have a fat client installation with the SYSDATA folder stored on the network.  Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for upgrading to the latest service packs, or resolving this error?

Thanks!

AK

You must apply SP9 to FRx before applying SP11 or sp12. Also make sure you are logged in as someone with Admin rights and turn UAC off.

Thanks.  I'm confused on how exactly to update though.  I ran the SP9 install and then afterwards when I opened the program, it still displayed as being at SP5.  I was logged in as an admin with UAC off and everything looked like it ran, but the program did not update.

    Thanks

Perhaps you would be better to download the FRx install that includes SP 9 and then go from there.

There are a few things you could be encountering.

    1. If FRx is installed as \\server\frx67 there was an issue at one time where you had to manually change the path to C:\FRx67 on that machine to have code lay down properly.

    2. There was an issue where the install path defaulted to C:\Program Files\FRx\Report Manager rather than one folder up at C:\Program Files\FRx.

    3. Reboot the machine. if it says it needs a reboot, the version may not update until after the reboot.

For your root issue you may have to copy an msxml.dll file into C:\Windows\System32 from a machine that has this file.

    Thanks
