EDT Tables References

Hi,

The EDT Table field lookup has changed in R3.

I have set the EDT Reference Table property and Table referenes nodes to a table and table field.

I use that newly created EDT in a Table to do the field lookup but I am not getting the lookup button, neither on the table nor the form.

Am I missing something in R3?

Did you create relation at EDT?

Create a relation on the table itself. That's the way to do relations in AX now

I think this was just a change with 2012. The automatic lookups are done via the table relations, not the EDT.

If you add an EDT that has the reference table and nodes to a table (via drag and drop), it will prompt you to add a table relationship. Just having the EDT set up without the table relationships won't do much.

With R3, On Custom EDT, you cannot create Relations. Now you have Table references.

With R3, You created lookup fields through table relation.

    Thanks guys for your help.

You shouldn't add a table reference to your EDT. You should go to the child table and add a relationship to the parent table.

    Example: http://i.imgur.com/rLiv726.jpg

I literally just added a string field to each table and added a relationship and the lookup works fine.

I think you only need to set up the EDT with the reference table stuff if you have an unbound control...eg, a field in a dialog. From your previous posts, it doesn't seem like that is the case, though.
