PR workflow special condition

Hi Experts

We have a workflow setup for Project PRs to go to the Project manager of the selected project.

This was achievable out of the box.

But we need to extend this with a new condition now where it says "Project PR should be approved by the Project manager as far as it's within their approval limit, otherwise it needs to go through their managerial hierarchy for approval"

Would love to hear some tips if this is doable without a customization?

Thanks!

    Hi Mohit,

The issue is not at the condition level. It's at the Approval level.

If it's not within PM's limits, then it needs to go to PM's manager. But out of the box 'Managerial hierarchy' has only  Preparer, Requester, Submitted by, Workflow originator, workflow owner.

How do I assign PM as one of these options. Is that achievable through Configurable hierarchy which I am not very clear about?

    Thanks!

Hi, Can you please check if you can create two approval tasks. One for project manager and another to Managerial Hierarchy based on amount.

Also, you mentioned 'Project PRs to go to the Project manager of the selected project. This was achievable out of the box.' So probably use same setup in approval task for project manager.

    Hi Mohit/ Experts

I reviewed the document series above and was very helpful.

However, I am left with one issue.

When I set the condition to check Project manager's managerial hierarchy, I am unsure how to pass the 'Project manager value' to the Hierarchy selection > Start from field. It only has "Preparer, Requester, Submitted by, Workflow originator, workflow owner".

And my condition to run this step should be only if the purchase requisition amount is higher than project manager's approval amount.

Hi, Please check this article if it helps. I don't think you need customization for it, it seems to be managed in workflow configuration. As shown in the article, you can create condition check the approval amount and approval limit of project manager and based on that flow should either go to project manager or managerial hierarchy.
