Skill based Project Line Items in PSA

Hello,

I am struggling to put PSA and Sale Management together in the below scenario. I would appreciate if someone can help me to understand how the below scenario can be done:

My customer is dealing with opportunities and professional services together. They create opportunities and they want to be able to add "Skilled Resources (not necessarily tied with actual resources)" as Opportunity itemized project lines to the opportunity. For example, they create an opportunity to provide software implementation service. For this opportunity, they will need 1 project manager, 1 solution architect, 2 developers and 1 tester. They have defined resources for each of these roles in CRM. Now they want to link each resource profile with the opportunity and derive the opportunity cost based on sum of all resources together.

The project line items in opportunities has no linkage with resources and skills in PSA. Is there any solution so I can add resources, their cost and resource roles to opportunities and derive the cost of opportunity?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

I haven't got access to PSA at the moment and my memory is shot, however options include Time and Material and Fixed Price. Not sure if that may be causing you issues as I'm sure are last project could do this.

The problem for me is not "T&M" or "Fixed Fee". I want to associate each resource profile individually to a Project Line Item. So basically, each resource profile appears as a Project line item with its own skill set and I can generate quotes later in the process.
