Can we use the product dimension version for Retail product?

Is this dimension version only for Manufacturing product?. Or can we use this version dimension for retail product(eg; Milk powder, Cooking Oil)?

Let's say that I am purchasing Brand X Milk powder 500g from supplier Y, after a year the Brand X stop the 500g product, then release the 490g of milk powder, all the cost, price are the same. It's most often happening cases in the retail industry.

So, What is the best way to track the inventory history of the 500g and 490g both together?. In future, may be again Brand A can be reduced to 480g..

In this case, can we use the version dimension for the retail product?

Hi,

Based on the problem you described, it seems that you can set up and manage the product version according to the following document: 在 Dynamics 365 供应链管理中设置版本化产品 - 培训 |Microsoft学习

Also, you can use multiple products: Create separate products for each variant. For example, create one product for Brand X 500g milk powder and another product for Brand X 490g milk powder. Manage and track inventory history separately for each product variant during procurement and sales.
