Production order with different items

Hello everyone!

I have two questions:

1. Is this possible in BC 17.2 to create and process one production order with two different items (finish goods) on the lines? I know that when I create production order I need to put source number and then refresh my order - system will automatically populate my lines with correct item and show all the components from the BOM to consumption. But what about situation when I want to process production order with two different finish goods. Is it possible?

2. Can I post Output journal without relation to production order? I mean I want to skip creating production order and post production directly from output journal with all necessery consumption.

Thank you in advance!

RE: Production order with different items
    1. Yes, you can have a Production Order that makes two or more products.  There are actually two different ways to accomplish this.
      1. You can change your Source Type to "Family"
        1. The Family produces multiple finished goods at the same time.
          1. Think of an injection molding process making plastic cutlery
          2. The mold has three cavities; 1 knife, 1 fork, and 1 spoon
          3. When the process runs you create three products from the single cycle
        2. The Production Order has one Routing
        3. It uses the BOM for each of the Items listed in the Family
        4. You Output all Items in the Family into your finished good inventory
      2. The other option is a by-product.
        1. This is where you list an Item as a negative quantity in your BOM
        2. The negative consumption puts that Item back into Inventory
          1. There is no consumption of BOM for the by-product
          2. The costing is dictated by the Item Card
          3. This doesn't work with Item Tracked Items
        3. You can actual consume and negatively consume the same Item
          1. For example in chemical manufacturing you may need water as part of the BOM
          2. During the process you are able to extract water during the drying process
          3. You'll have the same Item listed twice in the BOM with both a positive and negative quantity
    2. No, you can't post Output and trigger consumption if there is no Production Order.
      1. The Production Order establishes the link between the component consumption and the finished good output
      2. Without that link, you might as well do an Item Adjustment (which also doesn't trigger consumption of BOM)

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for answer. Regarding second point, can you describe an example of this? Becasue I think that I don't know how to proceed it.

RE: Production order with different items

1)No You Can't Assign two Output in One Production Order. Because You will Assign the Routing And BOM To One Particular Item, So it will be The Final Out put For the Production.

2)No You, Can't Because the Item No Field In the Output Journal Will Only Show the Lines From RPO.

If you want Two Output in One RPO then You can Assign the One of the Other output in the Production BOM.

and During the Posting of Your Production Journal For The RPO Please Enter Negative Quantity on Your Output Item on the Production Journal.
