I ran an version upgrade for POS 2009  I installed sp1-KB974079 and now when I log on it prompts me to upgrade database I click yes and I get an error that says "Cannot upgrade the database. Unsettled credit card transactions must be settled before the database can be upgraded"

As far as I know all transactions are complete and settled.

Sorry Tim.  I was not able to make the upgrade,  I figured that my program was working fine already,  why change it.   I may try again come winter when my store closes.   I think the Keiths post above is correct.  I think you have to run a ZZreport  to really close out the register.  Good Luck

I am also having the same issues.  I have all transactions settled and all batches closed except the ones that open automatically that have no transactions in them.

    Any ideas?

Did you run the Z-Report to close those batches?

Entering the closing amounts will still leave them open.

The batches need to be closed before the upgrade can be performed.

I went to the open batches and entered closing amts,  but I noticed they were from a different Register #, 4,5 &6   other then the Reg1 and Reg2  I use daily

and they still appear as open in batch reports.

I ran a Settlement Transaction report from the back-end and there are no open settlements for Credit cards

Navigate to Tasks | Open / Close | View Batches

Now select one of the open batches in the list.

You can then enter the opening and closing amounts and close the batch with a Z-Report.

The batches can also be set to closed using a script.

    Re: Version upgrade

I have 4 batches that are open from back in March thru Sept. 2011 but have no transactions in them.  Is there a way to delete them or still close them?

    all transactions are settled.

I uninstalled the service pack and is back to original file.

I have SQL Managment studio.  How would I do a query and how would I change the file to close the batch or delete it?

    Thanks

    Re: Version upgrade

    Hi Chris,

If you have checked that all the transactions are settled, I have also seen this issue caused by a batch that was not closed.

Are there any open batches in the Batch table?

    SELECT * FROM Batch

You will need to uninstall the Service Pack from the Control Panel to run the query in POS 2009 or you can run the query in SQL Management Studio.
