    RE: Replace new data base

Hello, read all the post before start doing anything,

Do not remove anything until you get your new database file complete.

I assume that the machine that has the POS is also the SQL server and is one shop set up.

I also assume that you are familiar with RMS Manager and Administrator.

I also assume that you are keeping backups before any changes. If any of these are not so I say you may stuff things up.

If you have the RMS disk and a spare computer install it and set it up exactly as the machine that has the POS, that is same version of sql server as POS. Use this to do your trials and once satisfied backup this new file and restore it in the POS machine. Then connect and select as bellow.

If this is so then all you have to do is create your new DB file with Administrator. With Manager add items, edit the company / shop details and configuration, connect, select and test connection.

You need to have SQL server sa password on hand to be able to test connection, as windows authentication does not always work.

Alternatively you can use the same DB file, delete all journal transactions, edit the new shop details, edit the items. For this just backup before you change anything and keep for your records, remember the start date of the business so that when you make reports exclude the old records.
