Combining Jobs and Drop-Shipping

Hi All, is it possible to combing drop-shipping and job? We ship service items that go directly to the customer, and I want to recognise this against a job that I can invoice from (along with resource time that has been allocated to the same job). I get the error message:

Validation Results

Drop Shipment must be equal to 'No' in Purchase Line: Document Type=Order, Document No.=106011, Line No.=10000. Current value is 'Yes'.

Thanks.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the question.

When you purchase an service item and include the Job information on that purchase line, then it is essentially a drop ship as it will be associated with the job. The lines of the job (including the service item and resource costs) can then be billed to the customer via (sales) invoices that are generated from the job.

Yes, this is a bit different from the traditional, supply chain drop ship functionality where you can generate a Sales Order and then from that a Purchase Order. As you have found this traditional, supply chain drop ship functionality doesn't support Jobs.

Is there any specific function from the traditional, supply chain drop ship functionality which you are needing to use, but which is not working for you as you process the Purchase document with the Job information on the lines?

Hello, yes, you can do that, but there are some details you should keep in mind before starting it. For example, when you buy a service item and put the job information on the purchase line, it's practically a drop-ship because it's tied to the project. I can suggest you contact a professional and consult with them and see what the best thing for you is. After I read a salehoo review, I decided to give it a try, and they are the ones than increased my income by 70%. I don't regret investing money in services that helped me, especially if they generate more money, so that might be the perfect tool for you.salehoo review
