Converting test database to production

I would like to know how to and what is the safest way to convert a test database (company) into a production one.  For example, we are working on a test "T155 - Company A" with database name "T155".  With everything is working well so far now, I would like to know if there is a safest way to convert:

Test database "T155 - Company A" with database name "T155"

into

Production database "S155 - Production Company A" with database name "S155"

Please advise.  Thanks.

    You can try

    DELETE DYNAMICS..ACTIVITY

    DELETE DYNAMICS..SY00800

    DELETE DYNAMICS..SY00801

    DELETE TEMPDB..DEX_LOCK

    DELETE TEMPDB..DEX_SESSION

You also want to run the GRANT.SQL scripts against the production database.

    Hi kt013,

Grab a trial version of GP Power Tools (GPPT) from the Mekorma site.. The database Validation tool inside of GPPT will help you fix all the inconsistencies related to the copy of one company DB into another one..

    https://winthropdc.wordpress.com/gp-power-tools-portal/

your issues are most likely related to permissions at the SQL level..

For your SSRS problems, did you re-deploy the out-of-the-box SSRS reports within GP for the newly created company ?  Have a look at those links for SSRS in Dynamics GP :

Thanks, Richard.  I found those and went on to finish the steps... it took about 6+ hours to finish... and still can't view the reports site for all companies.  Users also start having errors like "A get/change operation on table ‘SY_Current_Activity failed. A record was already locked.", "Error registering table glTaxWork", etc.  Appreciate your help.

Do you have the Dynamics GP Starter or Extended pack? You can login into CustomerSource to found that out. You can also look at your DYNAMICS.SET to find out what modules were installed. That will be in your C:\Microsoft Dynamics\GPXXXX folder. Finally, if you go to Tools->Setup->System->Registration you can see which modules were turned on.

Thank you, Richard.  I am able to follow the steps toward the end, and am now stuck at where I need to select the MS Dynamics GP products within the Database Maintenance window (step #8).  How do I find out what products I have?  Thanks.  --Khang

Also - my SQL Server Reporting Services site doesn't seem to work anymore.  It gives User 'domain\user' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.

Depending on which version of GP you are running you may need to run a script.

    support.microsoft.com/.../set-up-a-test-company-that-has-a-copy-of-live-company-data-for-microsoft-dynamics-gp-by-using-microsoft-sql-server

This script will help. You will need to use SSMS to restore the test database over the production database. The script is run after the restore is done.
