RMS upgrade from 1.3 to 2.0 and migrating to new hardware

I have a 2 lane install running RMS 1.3 refresh on XP sp3 using MSDE that has finally agreed to replace hardware /software to be PCI compliant (and before the hardware fails)

1. Should I install 1.3 on the new hardware (Win7) restore their data on sql express and then upgrade to 2.0? Or upgrade then migrate?

2. Is there anything I need to do as far as their license key for the migration/upgrade

3. Other than their memorized reports and pictures is there anything else I should move from the Store Ops folder?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions

    Sounds great Mike I appreciate the advice, I specialize in restaurant POS and honestly have not actively persued any new retail buisness in quite a few years, but I have continued to support the exsisting installs. Circumstances have dramatically changed and expanding back into the retail side is now sounding like a damn good idea.

    Would it be alright if I call you from the office in the morning?

    I was just looking at their website, would I need to become a reseller from them ? I am already a Microsoft partner for RMS

    You should renew through Retail Realm and get their Utilities for free, it costs the same either way

    You're right, it is cheaper to pay the back support and renew to get the upgrade. The quote I did on partner Source was like 17-18 hundred

    It's still about 40% less to renew than to purchase new, unless you are in the LATAM region and the licenses were purchased a long time ago under the old higher prices.
