I install SSAS extension always failed and I don't know how to debug the process.

I really appreciate every ideas, thank you.

    Analysis services extension doesn't actually do a whole lot.  Everything its supposed to do you can easily do yourself.

    Analysis services extension adds the ax bc.net user to the ssas server admin role, and then connects to the sql server to add a login for the ssas service account. It is supposed to assign that login to the db_reader role for the ax sql datbase so that analysis services can connect to the sql database.  

    From the log it looks like the step to add the bc.net user to ssas probably succeeded.  You can connect to the server and verify what accounts are members of the server admin role to confirm.  I'd guess the step to add the sql login for the ssas service account is what actually failed.  

    To fix it, first find out what account ssas service is running under.  You can find the ssas service in services console.  The properties window for the service should show the service account in the log in tab.  Then connect to the sql server and see if a login exists for the service account.  If the login is missing, add it.  The user mappings tab for the login should show what roles the login is assigned for each database.  Check what roles the login has for the ax sql database.  If the log in is not in the db_reader role for the ax sql database, assign the login to that role.  If the service account is set to network service, the way to refer to that account in the sql login is to set the account as domain\machine$ where domain is the domain of the server and machine is the name of the server.

    Once you are done with this, you can ignore the failure.  You'll already have done everything analysis extensions setup would have done for you.

    P.S. If ssas is on a different machine than the sql database then, there is also a firewall port that has to be opened for ssas to successfully connect to sql.  There's an msdn topic for sql ports if you need to look up what ports are needed.

    Thank you for your reply, I also think about to do by myself, but just don't know what it have done. In my memory, the extension also create a ax database in the sql analysis server. I don't know how it is been created.

    and I am really sure of that both the ssas service account and bc.net user  are the same which has the right to access ax database.

    The analysis services database is not created by setup.  It's created from the ax client. To create it, first, from the tools menu, under the BI commands, run the command for Analysis Servers to bring up the form for picking which server should be used to create the analysis services database. Run the File->New menu on the form.  Specify your Ax partition name in the first column (the value is usually 'initial').  In the second column specify the name of your analysis services server.  Set the Default column to true (that means AX will connect to that server for any ssas based reports and for any enterprise portal web forms that need an analysis services connection..   It doesn't matter what you put in the Description column.

    File ->Save (or control S) to save the record.

    Off the Tools menu, under the BI submenu, run the command SQL Server Analysis Services Project Wizard.  Choose the deploy option.  The next page will have you select the database to deploy.  Select 'Dynamics AX' from the 'Select project from AOT' drop down.  On the next page make sure the Deploy column is checked for your partition, and uncheck it for any other partitions.  Also check the Process option at the bottom of the screen.  Click next and wait for it to process.

    P.S.  Analysis Management Objects needs to be installed on the client machine to deploy the analysis services database.  If you get an error message about not being able to load amo, then it hasn't been installed yet.  There should be a download for it on Microsoft.com/downloads.  Pick the version for whichever sql server version you are using.

    Many many many thanks!!!  I have tried deploy the ssas database before, but always failed, so I thought it was caused by fail installing of ssas extension. now I know it was caused by not installing Analysis Management Objects!!!  

    now everything goes ok, even thought the ssas extension  installation log still failed.

    thank you again for helping to solve the problem which trouble me for several months.

    Yes, the error message at deploy when amo is not installed seems vague to me too.

    There is a better warning message for amo not installed in the ax prereq checker, but it tends to get ignored, since you don't actually need amo unless you are going to deploy or modify analysis services projects, and not everybody does that.
