I just spun up a new server and restored all company databases and the DYNAMICS database to the new SQL server. I then install the GP client from the install media. I launch and it prompts me to run utilities. When I run utilities I get below. I see some things on this issue out on the internet but nothing that has resolved this. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks!
It looks like you are missing a service pack on the new server. (You need to be on the same or newer release of GP.)Also - Did you create the needed SQL objects? (As part of my new server process, I do some pre-work before restoring the databases. I launch GP Utilities and have it create the DYNAMICS database, making certain to use the exact account framework settings that I need for the restored databases. Once the DYNAMICS database is created, I exit GP Utilities, rename/delete the blank DYNAMICS database, restore the actual GP databases from the other environment, confirm the database ownership, and then run grant.sql. I set Dex.ini to synchronize again and then launch GP Utilities - with Run as Administrator - to make sure everything is happy.)
Lisa is spot on!
Chances are good that there is an update installed on the old server that is missing on the new server. You can compare versions by opening GP Utilities on both servers. The GP version will be noted in the bottom left of the window right after you login, and before it does any version checks.
As Lisa noted, there are quite a few items to keep in mind when moving GP between servers:

Hi BoGLG,
On your old existing DYNAMICS database instance, please query the current version of your GP setup by running the following SQL statement:
SELECT * FROM DYNAMICS..DU000020 WHERE PRODID = 0 and companyID = -32767
That will give you the actual build that is in use and that you should match on your new SQL server for your GP client.
Thanks for all the replies: What's strange is that when I launch Utilities, I see this:
When I go to Control Panel on the same box, I see this:
How could that possibly exist?
Thanks!
don't rely on the version provided in the Control Pannel, as it might not show you the real build version of the Dynamics Dictionary file.. just the executable, which is only one piece of the equation in the GP client.
The only true way to know is query the DU000020 table and compare it to the version displayed by GP Utilities when you start it.
PS: the version displayed by your GP Utilities start screen is the equivalent of the service pack below:
You may want to check what your latest service pack installation was on the PROD system.
