One of my end users is currently having an issue where the receipt printer is not released after printing a receipt after a transaction is being tendered, which leads to her not able to log into POS as the program will try to load the printer and fail to start up. This client is using Headquarters, and the issue is occurring in all three stores they have. All of the stores have the same exact hardware layout (computer, peripherals, etc.).
Troubleshooting has led me to the following:
1. Going into the register's properties and disabling the receipt printer ('Do not print receipts to this printer' and un-checking "Journal receipts printer from this printer" ) bypasses the issue and allows POS to load (albeit with no receipt printer, of course).
2. The end user has a set-up in the register properties where she would enable both Receipt Printer 1 and Receipt Printer 2 and point them to the same OPOS printer in order to print different receipt templates for the same transaction. If I disable Receipt Printer 2 entirely, the issue stops occurring entirely; otherwise, the printer locking up and the POS failing to load happens on a daily basis.
As of this moment the end user is only using 'Receipt Printer 1' to avoid the frequent occurrence of this issue, however they've stated that their 'Receipt Printer 2' functionality is key to their business and need it operational as soon as possible. I would like to know if anyone here has experienced a similar issue (and if they resolved, where would be a good point to start) or if there is an alternative solution for printing the same sale to the same receipt printer but using a different receipt template from the original.
Thanks, Rene G.
