Change a currency default value in one entity

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi everyone,

In case entity I want the default value of currency : Lebanese Pound.
I did a business rule:

if currency value = US dollar
Set Field Default value= Lebanese Pound

It updated the currency lookup; but the problem is the money fields in this entity are not changing still have the dollar sign, unless I choose it manually again.
Any help please?

Thank you 3480.ccc.PNG

    Hi Faith,

what scope is the business rule set to?  If you ensure it is set to Entity then it will run server-side rather than client-side, which means you don't need to open the form for it to take effect.  I'm guessing at the moment yours is set to run on a specific form or all forms, and that means it doesn't run until you open the form, so the currency symbol won't update until you save and reload the form.

    Hi,

I had this issue by one of my customer.

As you are setting the currency dynamically (with Business rules or Jscript). CRm doesn't fetch the new currency symbol.

If you save the record and reload it. You will have the correct symbol displayed.

I am assuming its the OOB Currency lookup and not your custom look up. If its your custom currency lookup try using oob currency lookup.

Also, instead of setting Default value in business rule, can you try setting Field value and see if it works?

If this doesn't work, can you share a screenshot of your business rule?

RE: Set Currency Default value CRM 2016

    Hi Aric,

    Thanks for your reply,

But I don't want to change it for the whole organization, only for one entity.

RE: Set Currency Default value CRM 2016

Go to Settings -> Administration, and click on System Settings.

Click on the Formats tab, and change the Current Format to Arabic (Lebanon).

If you need to further customize the appearance, you can click on Customize button, and make changes to this.

This will make the changes to the entire organization, not just your settings. If you need to modify your personal settings, this is done via the Options menu.
