Hi,

Hopefully someone can help - I have registered for a Dynamics 365 trial version - I was hoping to explore creating workflows etc - but I am not an administrator so can't do this.  When I try to update my user it fails.  Can anyone help.

thanks

Steven

    I don't think that is correct.   If you're using the trial version you are not automatically system admin. I was not.  But as stated by @Jason Lattimer, you can go to Settings -> Security -> Users and click "Promote to Admin".   That's what I had to do.  Now I can see other features/buttons.

    Hi,

    yes when you create a new trial. You get an Office 365 with Global Admin Role and a Dyn 365 with Salesperson Role. As you are Global Admin you can promote yourself in every environment( for ex: sharepoint, Dyn 365 F&O,...)

    Definitely helped me from registering to trial again - I thought something went wrong during registration. It very confusing when you see only one user in your trial account (yourself) and he doesn't has sys admin role!

    So it seems D365 doesn't make you sys admin by default and we need to promote ourself.

    Hi Steven,

    If you are not already an admin, you can't make your self an admin.  If you created the trial, then you should have Global Administrator access which automatically gives you System Administrator security role.

    Navigate to portal.office.com/.../home

    If you can't see the users, then something has gone wrong and I suggest you create a new trial.

    If you can see it, make sure your account has the Global Administrator role.  If not, give the user that role, if possible.  Otherwise, as suggested above, create a new trial.

    Thanks so much for the quick reply Jason - I don't seem to have the security option in settings....

    Sounds like you need to promote yourself to admin:

    1. Settings -> Security -> Users
    2. Select your user
    3. Promote to admin
