Extend a view or NOT to extend ?

Hello guys,

Need some advice, if I have some case that need to modify a View. As View made with a relation of many tables connecting each other, the intention is to replace (delete and add another table) one of the 2nd level within that view's data source.

What would be the correct approach ? Create entirely new View ? or we can extend that view, wondering if after extend we can remove the data source or not ?

Just come hesitation if creating new View since it is may have some property's setting in one of its data source that I may missed out.

    Hi Tony,

    If you delete a data source, it will have impact on other areas where that data source should be used. Adding data sources or fields can have negative impact on the performance of the view. I would recommend to create a specific view for your scenario and don't take the risk to get into certain issues. When you have a customized view, you will not be able to get help from Microsoft Support when you have performance issues.

    As a developer, you should check all the properties of the view carefully to have the optimal results. If you do see a view which is quite in line what you need, you can duplicate this one and then change it.

    Hi Tony,

    Data sources of standard views cannot be removed in extension and shouldnt be removed. Please create a new view for your specific scenario.
